Fraport AG plans to source much of the electricity used at Frankfurt Airport from wind power in the future. This reflects the airport operator’s ongoing commitment to meeting its climate protection targets.
Southampton Airport’s efforts to minimise its carbon footprint have been recognised at Level 2 Reduction of ACI’s Airport Carbon Accreditation. Between 2015 and 2018, the airport cut its CO2 emissions per passenger by over 50%, despite significant passenger growth in that period.
Munich Airport is pushing ahead with its decarbonization efforts, and has now been recognised at Level 3 Optimisation of ACI’s Airport Carbon Accreditation. The airport aims to reach Level 3+ Neutrality by 2030, and “net carbon zero” by 2050.

Glasgow Airport’s FlightPath Fund has pledged £40,000 (€50,000) to support four local sustainability-themed projects. To celebrate 10 years of FlightPath, the Fund’s committee is urging local groups, charities and organisations to submit applications to support sustainability-themed projects aimed at improving the environment in the communities neighbouring Glasgow Airport and beyond.
Newcastle International Airport has announced ambitious plans to become a Net Zero emissions airport by 2035. This would coincide with the end date of the airport’s Masterplan and its centenary year in 2035.
