Genetec recently introduced Mission Control, a Decision Support System (DSS) designed to provide security professionals with new levels of situational intelligence, system visualisation, and incident management.
“Mission Control transforms not only the individual operator experience, but the way the entire operations are run: greater situational intelligence, streamlined digital processes and workflows when a situation occurs, facilitating collaboration between stakeholders, and ultimately reducing response time and increasing efficiency,” explains David Lenot, Director Transportation EMEA, Genetec. “From a security perspective, it means faster response to incidents and threats, and guiding operators through the entire response.”
Mission Control supports airport operations by potentially facilitating an increase in aircraft rotations. The Jet Way feature monitors and adapts boarding gate opening durations based on aircraft size and/or destination. “With better management of each boarding activities, it may be possible to increase the number of boarding sessions per day, hence improving the airport revenues,” says Lenot.
Meanwhile, with regards to maintenance, if a camera or a door suffers one or more failures throughout a period of time, Mission Control will be able to detect these patterns and inform the security, operations and facilities teams to go into action. “Maintenance technicians would then be automatically notified and guided through the resolution processing, either resulting in on-the-spot modifications or repairs, or triggering an advance replacement,” Lenot comments. “Ultimately, the goal is to get the system back to normal operation as fast as possible, and ensure operators and technicians closely follow pre-assigned processes.”
Mission Control also guides the resolution step-by-step with clear ‘Standard Operation Procedures’ (SOPs). “Again here, the pressure goes off the operator, allowing them to react faster,” Lenot concludes.
