IATA to release the updated 2017 editions of its unique industry-recognised ground handling reference manuals

In today’s complex environment of the airport, it takes time for new rules and procedures to be assimilated and put into practise. That is why, IATA has introduced its updated 2017 editions of the Airport Handling Manual (AHM) and IATA Ground Operations Manual (IGOM) – the latest industry-approved policies and standards for safe and efficient ground operations.

By acquiring these updated versions, professionals will be more aligned with the latest trends and regulations of the industry. The AHM is policy-driven and focuses on “what to do”, while the IGOM is procedure-driven, focusing on “how to do it”.  The key updates to the 2017 editions of the manuals include:

  • Complete revision of SMS practices for ground operations in AHM
  • Changes to the Standard Ground Handling Agreement (SGHA) in AHM 811
  • Introduction in AHM 904 of servicing specifications and dimensions for new aircraft B787 and A350
  • Addition of new section to AHM: Ground Operations Training Program
  • The IGOM introduces many updates, including for: passengers’ return check-in and boarding requirements; severe weather conditions best practices; ground support equipment operating requirements.
The customer can choose whether to order AHM and IGOM separately or combined, depending on what best suits their needs.
