End-to-end security solutions

Atos is exhibiting at the ACI Security & Crisis Management Special Summit in Brussels (stand 3), where it will be engaging with airports, security agencies and transport experts on the need to leverage new and innovative security solutions.

End-to-end security solutions

Stéphane Janichewski, Group Senior Vice President, Head of Defence & Aerospace Market, Atos: “With a global team of over 4,500 security specialists and a worldwide network of Security Operation Centres (SOCs), Atos offers end-to-end security partnership.”

It will be showcasing the CENTINELA border control solution, which is designed to manage checkpoints in an automatic way, analysing the information of pedestrians or incoming vehicles, their owners, and performing facial recognition and identification of vehicle occupants. “The driver’s face is compared to the central database,” explains Stéphane Janichewski, Group Senior Vice President, Head of Defence & Aerospace Market, Atos. “The Atos software cross-checks the facial recognition information with that of the license plate, allowing verification of abnormal activities, such as the use of various vehicles by the same driver, an unusually high number of passes, etc. In the event of an abnormal situation, CENTINELA blocks the way by preventing the barrier from lifting and sends an alert automatically.”

While the solution is not yet in place in any airports, there are opportunities as it can be adapted to the specific requirements of the customer.

Atos also has another solution in its portfolio for crisis management and crisis communications – Unify Openscape Xpert. It is described as a powerful multiline call handling solution for time-critical, high-pressure decision-making and team communications. “KLM successfully realised its HOCS (Hub & Operations Communication System) project thanks to Unify Openscape Xpert: a business-critical conference system for HCC (Hub Control Centre) and OCC (Operations Control Centre),” says Janichewski. “Since 2009, KLM is running a state-of-the-art communication system for all its mission-critical business processes.”

Meanwhile, addressing the subject of airport cybersecurity, Janichewski comments that a multi-faceted approach is required. “An effective security framework shall encompass IT perimeter and endpoint security, data protection, identity-based policy enforcement, and proper segregation of critical and environmental systems and controls, including cybersecurity measures to protect electronic systems,” he explains.

Atos has strong references with European airport operators, including Aena, Manchester Airports Group, Paris Aéroport, and Zurich Airport. “Furthermore, since 2016, we foster innovations through SESAR Deployment Manager, and we develop new innovative solutions within SESAR2020,” Janichewski concludes.
