FLIO, the global airport app, has been recognised as ‘Best Mobile Travel Solution’ at the Eyefor Travel Awards 2016, which honours innovative solutions in the travel industry. FLIO competed with finalists Apteligent and RoamingAround to win the prestigious international award for this category. “This recognition within the travel industry is a great moment for us,” comments Stephan Uhrenbacher, FLIO CEO and co-founder. “We have already been called a game-changing app and this win vindicates our belief that with FLIO we are genuinely changing the way in which airports can serve the needs of travellers.”
Finalists in the other two categories of Eyefor Travel’s award 2016, which took place in San Francisco, include American Airlines and Hotelplanner and past winners and finalists for these awards include KLM, TripAdvisor, Marriot Hotels, Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Best Western. The awards jury said: “Anybody who makes it to the final is a big deal and FLIO is and amazing product. The WI-FI feature alone is very useful to any traveller.”
Designed to “take the stress out of the airport”, FLIO was founded last year to provide travellers with live information about arrival, departures times and gates at 900 airports, as well as access to the official free Wi-Fi at 400 airports. Moreover, travellers can find airport information, such as tips about sleeping areas and special facilities – shower rooms, cinemas and spas – and the fastest route from airport to city or terminal map layouts at 250 airports. In addition, customers can access and book more than 60 lounges from FLIO’s partners Swissport Aspire and Plaza Premium Lounges globally and enjoy exclusive deals on food and shopping.
