Oslo Airport has introduced 35 new strollers following the security check, which are free to use by anyone travelling with small children.

“We are constantly working to improve the travel experience. One of the most important things we do is to listen to feedback from travellers and there is no doubt that strollers are high on their list,” commented Hans Bendik Eriksen, Department Manager for Terminal Operations.

35 strollers have been set out in an area immediately following the security check. The strollers, which are suitable for children aged up to three years, have storage space for smaller items. They are designed to make it easier to navigate shops and restaurants with small children before boarding the aircraft.

“We believe anything that can make travel easier for families will be viewed as a plus, and we hope the service will be well received. If it becomes popular, we will consider ordering even more strollers,” Eriksen added.

The strollers augment the airport’s existing commitment to accommodate the needs of families travelling with small children. In late-2014, Oslo Airport opened a separate nursing nook to offer a quiet, sheltered area designated for breastfeeding.

“We were approached through social media and other channels by persons who wanted the airport to provide a space for them, so we are especially pleased to be able to offer this amenity. The nursing nook has been open since December 2014 and has been well received,” Eriksen explained.

He added that families with small children can expect more innovations in the future. “We want to be a place where families feel welcome and we are constantly working to develop facilities and services for this target group. We hope to introduce more amenities for children and families with small children in the run up to the opening of the ‘new Oslo Airport’ in 2017,” Eriksen concluded.
