Energy-saving conveyor

Forbo Siegling has developed the Amp Miser conveyor belt, which reduces energy consumption by almost 40% compared to conventional belts.

A permanent sliding layer on the underside of the belt reduces friction, resulting in a lasting reduction in energy use. A trial at Düsseldorf Airport, where the belt was implemented on a 45m-long collector belt behind the check-in, reduced energy consumption by 32.4 %, while another trial at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol resulted in a reduction of 30%.

Significant energy savings have also been reported by airports in Denver, Dallas and Copenhagen, as well as by the Siemens Airport Centre in Fürth, Germany.
