Regulating an invasion

While the business opportunities presented by drones are known to many in the aviation industry, incidents in recent months have raised awareness of both the safety and security threats that drones can pose to airports. ACI EUROPE has been working with EASA and EUROCONTROL to develop EU-wide rules to regulate their use. And in recent months, it has also created a Drones Task Force to develop expertise and provide guidelines for airports. Aidan Flanagan reports.

Europe’s airports embrace digital transformation with SESAR’s innovative excellence

SESAR Joint Undertaking – the European Commission’s Single European Sky ATM Research programme – has developed technologies that have proved beneficial to Europe’s airports as regards safety, operational and environmental performance and, ultimately, the passenger experience. EASA’s Data4Safety partnership programme provides European-wide aviation data exchange and analysis to improve safety

EASA, along with key European aviation stakeholders, is running a very innovative safety programme in Europe named Data4Safety. It makes use of the most advanced technologies, such as Big Data & Data Mining, to collect, aggregate and analyse safety data in one platform.
