Minicabit is introducing eco-friendly Tesla cabs to Heathrow Airport, and its other partners, as its first step to fulfilling its pledge to ensure 25% of its cab fleet nationwide comprises low and zero emission vehicles by 2020.
Ahead of the COP21 Conference in Paris in two months’ time, where a new global climate change agreement is supposed to be reached, Inês Rebelo reports on how the airport industry is actively engaged in curbing climate change.
London Heathrow was a double winner at this year’s ACI EUROPE Best Airport Awards, securing both the ‘Over 25 million passengers’ award and the ‘Eco-Innovation’ award. That success was quickly followed by the UK Airports Commission’s recommendation for a third runway at Heathrow. The airport’s CEO John Holland-Kaye was interviewed by Ross Falconer.
Birmingham Airport has become one of the first in the UK to install fast charging points for electric vehicles. These allow 35 different models of electric and plug-in hybrid cars to recharge in 20-30 minutes, further enhancing Birmingham Airport’s commitment to environmental efficiency.
