The 5th annual ACI Economics & Finance Conference took place in Singapore on 6-8 March – the first time it has been held in the Asia-Pacific region. Held in partnership by ACI EUROPE, ACI World and ACI Asia-Pacific, the event was clearly focused on the question of what airports need to do in order to sustain and grow, in a world of increased pressures and correspondingly decreased certainty. Airports seek priority in revised EIB transport lending policy
As part of the major review of overall EU transport policy currently underway, the European Investment Bank (EIB) launched a public consultation on the revision of its transport lending policy. 2010 Economics Report Holds a Mirror to the Industry
At the start of the summer, ACI EUROPE published its Economics Report 2010, bringing together and analysing in aggregate form economic data from over 190 European airports. The report – kindly sponsored by TAV Airports Holding – covers airports which carried 77% (or over 1 billion) of Europe’s air passengers in 2009 and sheds light on how the industry weathered the recessionary storm. ACI EUROPE organises 2nd workshop on economic regulation & KPI
Following on the success of last year’s ACI EUROPE Airport Economics Workshop, a second Special Workshop on Economic Regulation & the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) project was organised by ACI EUROPE in September 2010. The workshop took place over a day and half at the ACI EUROPE offices in Brussels on 20 and 21 September. Registration was limited to members of ACI EUROPE, but the workshop was completely free. Some 40 participants from over 30 airports attended the workshop.

Bologna Airport generates 5,000 jobs and €550m for the region
SAB Aeroporto G Marconi di Bologna organised a workshop on 13 July – ‘Airports as engines of economic growth’ – which included previously unpublished data from Bologna. Is the economic climate affecting airport privatisations & acquisitions?
The short answer appears to be that investors are feeling little impact. Organisations such as Hochtief, Macquarie Airports and Balfour Beatty are enjoying considerable success, and are seemingly unaffected by the current economic climate.
