ACI EUROPE Annual Assembly: Putting the passenger first
European airports’ annual get together – the 22nd ACI EUROPE Annual Assembly, Congress & Exhibition – this year hosted by Aena Aeropuertos, took place in Madrid from 20 to 22 June. The central theme ‘Putting the passenger first’ saw a lot of airport companies and CEOs reveal how passionate they have become about meeting and surpassing the passenger’s expectations. Ross Falconer reports.

Regional airports gather together in Ljubljana
The 5th Annual ACI EUROPE Regional Airports Conference & Exhibition took place from 2 to 4 April, hosted by Aerodrom Ljubljana, Slovenia. This year’s conference comprised 6 sessions, covering the full spectrum of issues affecting regional airports including economic and social aspects, regulation, competition, developing new revenue streams, environmental sustainability and operational and security constraints. The conference brought together more than 170 delegates from regional airports, local and national authorities the European Commission, airlines and ACI EUROPE World Business Partners.

Collier to join LCY; remains ACI EUROPE President
It has been announced that ACI EUROPE President Declan Collier is to leave his position as CEO of Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) and take up a new role as Chief Executive of London City Airport in early 2012. He informed the DAA Board that he would not seek to renew his current contract, which expires in early April 2012.

Airport Exchange 2010 Istanbul, 4-6 October
ACI EUROPE’s Airport Exchange broke new ground in this, its fifth year. Held in collaboration with ACI Asia-Pacific for the first time and hosted by TAV Airports Holding, it took place in the historic city of Istanbul from 4-6 October, bringing together delegates from Europe and Asia. The event was, once again, a resounding success, attracting some 1,500 delegates and visitors.
