Cardiff Airport ‘transforming customer experience’ with €4.5m investment

Cardiff Airport has this month launched further improvements to its terminal and car park facilities. The £4 million (€4.5m) investment will be completed by summer 2018.

The next phase of Cardiff Airport’s investment includes: a Costa Coffee in the arrivals hall; additional seating areas in the departure lounge; a Costa Coffee in the departure lounge, alongside the existing Caffé Ritazza and The Beer House; increased retail space, allowing for a larger WHSmith store; an expanded Executive Lounge; and an upgraded hold baggage screening system.

The works are designed to transform the customer experience, with the next phase of investment including: a Costa Coffee in the arrivals hall; additional seating areas in the departure lounge; a Costa Coffee in the departure lounge, expanding the choice for customers alongside the existing Caffé Ritazza and The Beer House; increased retail space, allowing for a larger WHSmith store, with additional product ranges including ‘Well’ pharmacy; an expanded Executive Lounge, allowing for additional seating meaning more customers can take advantage of the exclusive facilities before they fly; and an upgraded hold baggage screening system to meet enhanced security requirements.

Meanwhile, outside the terminal building, travellers will see a number of changes to the car park and car hire facilities, including: new ‘meet & greet’ car parking with a dedicated area for drop-off and pick-up close to the terminal; and a new car hire centre close to the terminal.

These developments are building on positive traffic figures. Passenger numbers grew 7% to 1.44 million for the rolling year to end-September. Cardiff Airport is expecting continued growth in 2018 and beyond, aided by the announcement that Qatar Airways is to launch a daily service connecting Cardiff and Doha, commencing on 1 May 2018.
