Oslo Airport improves shopping experience with nine new openings

As Oslo Airport prepares for the opening of its new terminal on 27 April, it is improving the shopping experience with nine new businesses opening their doors on 1 February, and more to open throughout 2017. “Avinor Oslo Airport is pleased to inform passengers that the range of shops and food and drink outlets is now even better,” says Øyvind Hasaas, Managing Director, Oslo Airport. “We have opened nine new shops and food outlets, and we hope that everyone who has been in them was impressed.”

Øyvind Hasaas, Managing Director, Oslo Airport: “We are near to achieving our goal and we will be opening many fantastic shops etc. during 2017. We are very pleased about this and hope that all passengers are happy that shopping and culinary experiences at the airport are improving.”

Thune, which sells an extensive range of watches and jewellery in various price ranges, opened a new and bigger shop near Gate E9 for international travel. Way-Nor has opened a pop-up shop opposite Thune and sells Norwegian souvenirs and gifts.

Travel Retail Norway (TRN) has opened a new Travel Value shop selling the well-known Kate Spade handbags and a wide range of sunglasses. Airport Retail Group (ARG) has opened three different fashion concepts: Æra Women, Æra Men, and Æra Active selling sports clothes brands including Norrøna and Bergans.

A large range of Norwegian and Scandinavian design products can be found at the newly-opened TING. Meanwhile, Northland offers delicious sourdough baguettes, and BIT sells excellent salads, sandwiches and pastries. Both can be found in International Departures (the North Pier). Tanum, which has opened its second bookshop, is in the same area.

“The shopping experience has vastly improved with a much greater range of well-known brands, from Missoni, Max Mara Weekend and Kate Spade to Norrøna, Bergans and Fjällräven. With regard to eateries, we are proud to present BIT and Northland, which will fit in well with our imminent total portfolio of 37 food outlets at Oslo Airport,” says Torgeir Kjos Sørensen, Commercial Director, Avinor Oslo Airport.

An ongoing construction site

In an effort to open shops and food outlets as soon as possible, there is a lot of ongoing building work in the public areas of Oslo Airport up to the official opening on 27 April. More outlets will be introduced before the official opening and throughout 2017.

“We are near to achieving our goal and we will be opening many fantastic shops etc. during 2017. We are very pleased about this and hope that all passengers are happy that shopping and culinary experiences at the airport are improving,” comments Hasaas.

Passengers will also have to get used to the new walkways, check-in desks, exits and gates. “For most people, their trip will proceed as normal and from areas with which they are familiar. Nevertheless, it is important that passengers be alert, follow the signs and check other flight-relevant information,” Hasaas adds.
