Customers can book a low emission car through minicabit’s app and website by selecting the ‘Tesla’ option from the drop down menu on minicabit’s website when booking. This option will soon be available to minicabit’s partners, including London Heathrow Airport, which has also integrated its premium cab booking and comparison service ‘chauffeurit’ onto its website.

Minicabit, an online cab price comparison and booking service, is introducing eco-friendly Tesla cabs to Heathrow Airport and its other airport partners, and promises to make 25% of its cab fleet low or zero emission by 2020.

A survey, conducted by Heathrow Airport and minicabit, reveals that 48% of British consumers are willing to book an eco-friendly minicabit over a non-eco-friendly minicab. In the UK, demand for low emission cabs is highest in the South West (58%) and lowest in the North East (38%). Moreover, the survey shows that 73% of students are more likely to book eco-friendly cars compared to 41% retirees. “This survey’s findings back this up and reinforce our mission to enhance customer choice across the UK cab market, whilst helping to generate more work for cab fleets wanting to get greener,” comments Amer Hasa, CEO of minicabit.

Heathrow Airport is one of the few airports to offer the eco-friendly Tesla cabs. In 2015, Heathrow was awarded the ‘Eco-Innovation’ Award during the 11th ACI EUROPE Best Airport Awards. This was awarded to London Heathrow Airport for its energy efficiency efforts. “Heathrow welcomes the work minicabit is doing to reduce road emissions, the largest source of air pollution in our local communities,” comments Matt Gorman, Heathrow Director of Sustainability and Environment. “Together, we can deliver for the environment, while still providing passenger with choice, and a high standard of service that they have come to expect from our airport and our partners.”

Minicabit stays loyal to its ethos to build an environmentally sustainable business, by committing to ensure 25% of its cab fleet nationwide are low and zero emission vehicles by 2020. As its first step in fulfilling its mission, minicabit has introduced zero emission Model S Tesla cabs onto its platform, which makes it the first UK wide cab comparison to do so.
