Year-round maintenance

The Boschung Group manufactures a diversity of machinery and equipment for maintenance activities for airports, roads and municipalities. The company has more than 60 years of experience in the field and now has 500 employees with branch companies in Germany, France, Austria, China and the USA.

Among the products that have been deployed in airports is the Jetbroom, which provides an economical, all-year cleaning machine for airport areas. The company also offers spreaders and de-icers in every possible execution and combination, the snow blower/cutter B4 + B6, multi-purpose carrier Pony, and sweepers in various sizes.

With the establishment of Boschung Mecatronic Ltd in 1978 – producer of electronic and electro-mechanical winter equipment – the activities of the Boschung Group have been extended. This company specialises in ice early warning systems and automatic thawing agent spray systems, as well as the BORRMA-web system.

Küpper-Weisser, based in Germany and also part of the Boschung Group since 2001, specialises in state-of-the-art spreader and snowplow technology, including solid, liquid or a mix of both. Under the trade name SCM (Surface Condition Management), the Boschung Group supplies the entire equipment for the maintenance of working surfaces as a sole provider.

Environmentally friendly de-icing

Kemira is the sole manufacturer and marketer of the Clearway branded range of products. Clearway is acknowledged as being among the market leaders in airport de-icers, and the product range has been developed to include both acetate and formate-based liquids, along with a complementary solid product range.

Clearway products are used for anti-icing and de-icing applications. Anti-icing is a preventative strategy, while de-icing is a reactive strategy for ice control. Anti-icing is carried out to prevent the formation of an ice sheet, and de-icing operations are intended to break the bindings of already bonded snow and ice.

The most important objectives of de-icing and anti-icing operations are: to clear airport runways of snow and ice and to prevent the bonding of ice on runways, taxiways and aprons; to improve safety and traffic flows at airports; and to help transport equipment and emergency vehicles to run more smoothly.

The Clearway de-icing chemicals are effective, biodegradable and environmentally friendly, and safe and easy to use. Clearway airport de-icers are classified WGK1, both for their excellent biodegradability and because of their low aquatic toxicity, meaning that they are not generally water endangering.
