Aena translates aeronautical publications

Aena, the Spanish airport operator and air navigation service provider, has a Documentation and Publications Centre (CDP) that provides readers, whether they are familiar with aeronautics or not, with various book collections that approach the fascinating world of air transport, its history, technology, development, as well as other sciences and activities related to this sector.

Aena’s publishing service was created in 1999 and, due to the success of the books, it has decided to translate its main titles into English to increase their accessibility.

Through these publications, edited by the CDP, Aena is trying to facilitate to every airport visitor the knowledge of the different processes and professionals necessary to provide a quality service.

The publishing service was created in 1999 and has enjoyed a positive performance throughout these years. Due to the success of the books, and bearing in mind the scarce bibliography that exists on the aeronautical sector, the CDP has decided to translate its main books into English. This way, these publications will be accessible to all interested readers. The published volumes can be bought in the new online shop located on Aena’s website: www.aena.es/publicaciones. Currently, only four volumes have been translated into English: ‘Discover Air Sports’, ‘Birds at Airports: The Use of Falconry’, ‘Discover Airports’ and ‘Discover Airport Operations’, but translations will follow on periodically.

The catalogue of Aena’s publications is formed by five different collections:

  • Discover: Books aimed at all readers, independently of their previous knowledge of aeronautics. The clarity of the language and explanations employed allow all airport users to acquire a greater knowledge on the activities that guarantee the airport’s daily operation.
  • Aena’s Notebooks: Aimed at divulging technical studies undertaken by professionals in the sector and that will certainly provide interesting information to the aeronautical community.
  • Collection of History Books: In cooperation with the Spanish Association of Aeronautical Engineers, this collection gathers each and every one of the stories behind the infrastructures managed by Aena.
  • Children’s Books: The various aspects of air transport are transmitted to children through didactical texts and wonderful illustrations.
  • Monographic Series: Composed by a varied selection of volumes that, due to its special characteristics and the quality of its binding, photos and documents, form a specific collection on its own.
